Hello and welcome!
I’m Gigi,
Women’s Health Nurse, Herbalist, Birth & Postpartum Doula in Northeast Ohio.
I live in Akron with my husband and our orange cat, Fig. I graduated from MVNU in 2019 with my Bachelors of Science in Nursing. I started my career as a registered nurse in the emergency department for 6 years, then moved to a women’s health office. Throughout this journey I was drawn to holistic health and realized I wanted to work outside of the hospital system. I went on to complete my doula training with a home birth midwife in 2022 and have been working as a birth and postpartum doula in the home birth setting since. I am always learning and growing my skills through online courses, books, and holding space for natural, physiological birth. I have been honored to attend over 50 births and even more postpartum journeys, and I love returning to village and community care. It fills my soul to hold space for women in such an intuitive way. Birth and postpartum are truly sacred seasons and I am filled with deep respect for both. I love using herbs and ancient healing practices to serve women and I have completed herbalism courses through The Herbal Academy and CommonWealth Holistic Herbalism. I am currently training to be a certified steam technician through The Peristeam Hydrotherapy Institute and love using the practice of womb steaming to support women in postpartum and general cycle health.
Sun & Solace is what I want to embody and bring to birth and postpartum spaces. “Sun” meaning warmth, light and energy as well as “Solace” which means comfort, consolation, and peace. I love creating a warm and comfortable space for you to just be.
The philosophy behind my work…
holding space
I provide emotional support, connection, birth story processing and trauma-informed care. Sometimes this looks like a long chat over a cup of tea, or a good cry and a hug. Community is so important postpartum, and I am always honored to be a part of yours.
nourishment
Using food as medicine, I prepare nourishing food and drinks for you in your home. I use whole foods, grass-fed organic produce and seasonal produce. We bring warmth back into the body post birth with warming foods like soups, stews, teas and more.
healing herbs
I offer customized herbal infusions for you to sip on, postpartum herbal baths for you to soak in, yoni steams and many other natural remedies during your pregnancy and postpartum season. I also bring high quality herbs to use and cook with in your home.
warmth
Birth is a cooling process for the body, and warmth is needed for healing postpartum. We bring warmth back into the body by eating warming foods, soaking in warm herbal baths and steams, and reaxing with warming oil massages.
traditional bodywork
I offer various healing modalities and bodywork during the prental and postpartum season including Bengkung belly binding, herbal baths, yoni steams, foot soaks and relaxation massages.
rest
In order for the mother to rest, heal, and bond with baby, many tasks need to be delegated. I love to clean dishes, fold laundry, change bed sheets, or complete any other task that would bring you peace.
